He was a master of landscapes, portraits, and family life genre. Among his contemporaries and friends were Ivan Franko, Lesya Ukrainian, V.Stefanyk, Mykhaylo Hrushevsky, Mykola Lysenko, Stanislav Lyudkevych, and Solomiya Krushelnytska. Artistic and Memorial Museum of Ivan Trush, which is affiliated with the Sheptytskyi National Museum in Lviv, is located in a house built by the famous architect O.Lupshynskyi. It was an open workshop - Museum of I.Trush – which was headed by his daughter Ariadne since 1951.
Later, the children of Ivan Trush, Ariadne and Roman, gave the building to the Museum to create a memorial exhibition, which was opened in 1989 to mark the 120th anniversary of artist’s birth.
The exhibition presents the artist's original works from different periods: Landscapes of Crimea, Egypt, Palestine, from the series "In the arms of snow," "Pines," "Life of stumps", pieces on Hutsul themes. There are also portraits of prominent figures of Ukrainian culture and family portraits. Archival materials, letters and personal notes of Ivan Trush complement the exhibition, follow the chronological, thematic and genre principle, in order to highlight the multifaceted talent of the artist, and his public and cultural figure.
